Newspapers Will Soon Be Extinct...

That's a cheerful thought isn't it? Well it seems that it may very well be a reality sooner than many news papers imagined.

Here's my 2-cents on this. I reckon many of these papers could have avoided their untimely demise if they'd only figured out what business they were in. I jumped out of the print publishing world a few years back because of this...

MISTAKE #1: Thinking you're in the "news" business...

MISTAKE #2: Thinking you're in the "paper" business...

Actually, no one gives a toot that the delivery mechanism was paper... what they cared about was that they got the information they wanted. News schmooze...

Granted paper has it's place, but the 'news paper' was the only game in town for so long they forgot what they were there for:

CONNECTING PEOPLE.

And then this little technology called the Internet came along and well... you know what happened next.

The lines are blurring, the media is mixing and the only way to stay alive is to forget "paper" or "tv" or "radio" and start thinking Internet.

If you don't believe me... ask the Easter Bunny ;-)
